Getting Personal: A Weekly Creative Nonfiction Workshop, with Olga Katsovskiy

$270.00

In this weekly writing intensive, students will transform real-life experiences into compelling personal narratives. Each week, we will read and discuss published craft essays and creative nonfiction from writers like Barlow Adams, Jeannine Ouellette, Tania De Rozario, Marion Winik, Lidia Yuknavitch, and more, to gain a deeper understanding of this shape-shifter genre. Abigail Thomas said "vulnerability is strength" in essay writing, inviting us to ask ourselves hard questions and face them with honesty and compassion. Guided by weekly writing prompts, students will journey into the unknown, mingling with their past and future selves to find their stories. Students could write a new essay a week or work on polishing one throughout the course. Everyone will have an opportunity to workshop and receive verbal and written feedback from the instructor and the group. We will come together in a supportive space to elevate your writing to the next level. This class is designed for beginner to intermediate essay writers. Space is limited to 8 students.

This workshop will meet online.

This workshop will not meet on October 27th.

Tuesdays, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.; 6-week workshop starts October 13th
