Writing Workshops
Writing is a lonely business. Almost all writers feel the need for a
supportive community in which to generate and share work. Many
writers also crave feedback and specific suggestions on how
to improve their craft. To address this need, Writers in
Progress has been offering weekly
creative writing workshops in Northampton since 1992. The workshops
are designed to both instruct and inspire, offering
technique-building tips and constructive feedback in a supportive
environment.
The
workshops combine writing prompts, mini-lectures on craft,
manuscript consultation, and group discussion of participants’ work.
Every workshop also includes healthy refreshments.
Weekly workshops and retreats meet at our beautiful studio
in the historic
Arts & Industry Building,
Florence MA. Workshop topics include:
Weekly Writing Workshops
Retreats - Morning, One-day
or Weekend Workshops

"Dori’s
workshops are gentle and rigorous, deep and thought provoking. But
most of all, Dori is a truly inspired teacher. She gave me the courage
to write into the darkest, and richest parts of myself. I could not
have written my first book without her.”
Alison Smith, author of
Name All the Animals
"I came to Writers in Progress needing to
learn about narrative flow and character development. Dori's workshops
did just that for me, and more."
