Dori received her
MFA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and has since taught
writing and literature at the University of Massachusetts, Westfield State
College and Holyoke Community College. She began teaching community
workshops in 1992, with the hope of creating a safe and constructive
environment for writers to improve their craft, share their work and find
resources and support. Since then, she has worked with hundreds of
individual writers, from beginners to published professionals.
Dori also has many
years of experience as a writer and editor of non-fiction. Her articles
and columns have appeared in Spin, Playgirl, Slimmer, The LA Reader
and The Brentwood Bla Bla. She has written grant proposals,
newsletters and brochures for several area organizations, including the
YWCA of Western MA, the Hampshire Educational Collaborative and Big
Brothers/Big Sisters.
Dori has provided
manuscript critiques and coaching to dozens of private clients. She comes
to this work with an inherent understanding of how difficult writing can
be, and a deep respect for the creative process.
